On 23rd August South Africans were reminded of the brittle sensitivity of their economy when news was leaked that the SAPS Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (better known as The Hawks) wanted to interview the country’s respected Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan around the establishment of a so-called ‘rogue unit’ within the South African Revenue Service (Sars).
It was widely suspected Gordhan had become a pawn in a reckless political game.
As panic started to ripple through the business community, I received a call from the producers of ‘The Money Makers’ on CNBC Africa asking if I’d speak to host Bruce Whitfield about the scenarios that could unfold.
Any opportunity to speak to Bruce…and because he’s such a honey and a gentleman, he asked me about ‘A Fox’s Tale’.
In case you missed the chat, you can watch it here.
